About Equomed Canada

Equomed Canada was Started in 2007 in Calgary Canada and the International Academy of Equine Sport T

  Baxter received a diploma in Animal Science from McGill University in 1975  .  After college, he moved to Calgary, Alberta to take the Farrier Science course at Olds College. He also taught at Fairview College Equine Science .He started Equomed Canada  2007 in Calgary Canada and the International Academy of Equine Sport Therapy (IAEST) . In 1999  Baxter moved to Germany  teaching and his Equine Therapy Practice  in Europe. .

Equine Fitness and conditioning

Fitness and the conditioning factor is the basis of all  Human Sport Training  as well for Horses .   With a H10 Polar sensor you can test the  Heart rate  (HR) rest and working  , Heart Rate Recovery  (HRR) time  of  the recovery after a  set exercise  and the Heart Rate Variability (HRV)   can monitor  the Training  load as well the stress level of your training  and condition of the horse this gives the Rider  or Trainer feed back on your horses health and conditioning  for better performance and less injuries .     For horses its  been used for many years , TB, jumping , Dressage endurance  , western, colic , stress  and even breeding management

Pre and Post Event Therapy

Introduction Pre and Post Therapy for Sport Horses: The Pre-event is to enhance your horse for his training exercise or competition. This is to reducing stress and pain and increasing his flexibility and focus for work.  The post event is to reduce the stresses from training or competition or race. This enables the horse to come back faster for training, and help the rehabilitation reduce injury and stress from competition. The Thermal and Cold therapy will be taught as well passive mobilization

  Content of course: Introduction into the basic principles of TCM · Philosophy of the Chinese health system· Ying Yang and the Five Elements Theory · Anatomical basic knowledge of Acupressure points Functions of acupressure points and Meridians · Biofeedback, Association- and Ah Shi-points · Different acupressure methods.   · Special Therapies to use with difficult, nervous horses, horses with reduced will to work, and therapies to reduce stress
