Equine sport therapy is a science designed to enhance the level of comfort and performance of the athletic horse.
Combining modern knowledge of bio-mechanics and advanced technology, the equine sport therapist can customize, along side of your vet, trainer and other professionals, a fitness program best suited for each individual horse.
Micheal Baxter is the heart and soul of Equomed. He has several years of experience working with top level horses on both side of the Atlantic as well as teaching his science.
Muscle Therapy 1 Workshop will cover the basics of Equine Sport Therapy, Safety, principles of Equine Sport Therapy, and techniques. Theory with hands on learning. This 16 hour course over is designed for horse owners , grooms, and riders who are interested in healthier horses, improvement in health and Movement.
Introduction Pre and Post Therapy for Sport Horses: The Pre-event is to enhance your horse for his training exercise or competition. This is to reducing stress and pain and increasing his flexibility and focus for work. The post event is to reduce the stresses from training or competition or race. This enables the horse to come back faster for training, and help the rehabilitation reduce injury and stress from competition. The Thermal and Cold therapy will be taught as well passive mobilization
Content of course: Introduction into the basic principles of TCM · Philosophy of the Chinese health system· Ying Yang and the Five Elements Theory · Anatomical basic knowledge of Acupressure points Functions of acupressure points and Meridians · Biofeedback, Association- and Ah Shi-points · Different acupressure methods. · Special Therapies to use with difficult, nervous horses, horses with reduced will to work, and therapies to reduce stress
